EFCA COVID-19 Updates

Check this page often for EFCA's updates on our safety guidelines, reopening policies, and situation during this turbulent pandemic.

Safety Guidelines

To ensure the safety of our fencers, coaches, and visitors as best as possible, EFCA will strictly enforce our safety guideline which is based on CDC and USFA guidelines. We ask that all visitors read, understand, and follow these guidelines. We will be updating these guidelines based on the pandemic situation.

Club Changes

  1. Only 15 fencers are allowed in the club at once.
  2. EFCA will not lend club equipment to fencers including masks, gloves, jackets, or weapons. This does not apply to long term rentals.
  3. The use of water fountains and refrigerators are prohibited.  
  4. EFCA will clean and disinfect bathrooms daily.
  5. EFCA will also disinfect objects that are touched frequently such as door-handles, light switches, bathroom doors, and fencing reels.

Stay at Home if ...

  1. You are exhibiting respiratory symptoms or feeling sick
  2. You are over 60 years old.
  3. You have underlying medical conditions.
  4. You have a family member at home who has respiratory symptoms.
  5. You are at a high risk of getting COVID-19 either in your job or area.

Rules for Fencers

  1. Maintain six feet apart
  2. Cover coughs or sneezes
  3. Wash hands or use hand sanitizer often
  4. Don’t leave equipment at the club
  5. No sharing of fencing equipment
  6. No shaking hands with other people
  7. Clean fencing equipment after each use.

Online Classes

EFCA is currently providing online classes via Zoom where coaches led fencers in various exercises, physical conditioning, and discussions. Throughout our online classes, we have had many well known guest coaches including Alexander Choupenitch and Eleanor Harvey. Recent Update: June 13th

Starting from June 15th, EFCA will be reopening for private lessons. To reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and protect our fencers, coaches, and visitors as best as possible, EFCA will be implementing various changes to our private lesson system.
